What to do and where to go in London Town?

Today, London is a hugely diverse place with so many cultures and different traditions. One of my favorite things about London is the different areas it has. For example, take the City area which looks very similar to New York and in my opinion doesn’t provide the true London spirit. One of my favorite areas is Kensington and Chelsea which has beautiful townhouses and the streets all have brick coloured orange houses. I love walking around these areas and every time I discover something new. There is truly no other city like London which makes it simply unique and different from all others
There are a lot of places worth visiting but people tend to come to the city only for a couple of days so in this post I will suggest my most worthy spots.
Museums, galleries and other artistic places
London is a city with a lot of talented people so there are a lot of little galleries. If you come during the first week of October you will be able to enjoy the week of art in London. During that week there is a PAD which is a design exhibition with different sculptures, home interior and decorations, and there is Frieze which is a big art exhibition in Regents Park. I personally liked PAD more because I found the pieces to be more interesting and the home decorations were truly beautiful and very inspiring for those that are building or furnishing their place. Frieze on the other hand has a lot of modern art so for those that like renaissance style art and more ancient art, I don’t really recommend goings. These exhibitions happen once a year but during this week as well there are a lot of different pop ups like this year there was a Gagosian pop up with many cool pieces so it’s worth checking what exhibitions there are when you go.

The National Gallery is very known and popular for a reason, it is truly fascinating. Unfortunately, when I went I did not have time to look at everything and was only able to get through maybe one third of the gallery so I recommend either going for a full or just the sections you really want to visit. There are different periods and eras of art so it is worth looking at the website to see which ones you are more interested in to not waste any time.
The V&A museum named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert is very popular for fashion and photography exhibitions but it is also home to many paintings. This time Regina went there was an exhibition of Naomi Campbell which was very interesting.
A museum I really enjoyed is the Moco Museum which started off in Amsterdam and displays a variety of modern and contemporary art including pieces of Takashimaya Murakami and Yayoi Kusama. This museum is very different from the others because the art varies from paintings to sculptures and lighting installations and even some NFT art. It is nice to see this museum and understand the modern art a little bit better as it is definitely very different from the other collections but still very interesting. The museum is not very big so I recommend going for 30/40 minutes and I also recommend to check out their website to see which new pieces and pop ups there are because they change every month.

London always has pop ups whether it’s new fashion collaborations, coffe shops, art galleries and art installations or an attraction park like winter wonderland. This autumn there was an art installation of the famous Yayoi Kusama pumpkin in Hyde Park which was really cool and unusual because the park itself never changes but the little statues in it always do which makes it unique and different than others. I love the energy of London because everyone is trying to create something new and different from the previous time.

Activities and other entertainment
If you come during the November-December period I recommend going to winter wonderland which is a fun Christmas market and attractions set up in the huge park. There you can enjoy different types of food, rollercoasters and other activities like ice skating. It is quite big and has activities for all age categories from little kids to grown adults so I definitely recommend going for a couple of hours and getting the sunset slots on weekdays as there aren’t that many people those days and the time is perfect because it is pretty from all the lights but not too dark.

London is beautiful during the Christmas period because all the shops and streets are decorated and you can really feel the Christmas spirit. Harrods is always decorated differently every year because it collaborates with different designer brands so each year is totally different and unique. I recommend going to new Bond Street to see all the Christmas lights and decorations of the shops. Another place which has gorgeous Christmas lights is Oxford and Regent’s street however it gets extremely crowded in the evenings so be very careful with your belongings and again go during the weekdays to avoid tourist groups and huge crowds.
